BAU: The provision of more rural infrastructure will continue to be the focus of Sarawak government.

Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said this means building and upgrading basic facilities and utilities such as water supply and electricity.

He said this was in line with the direction given by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for rural development to given more attention.

“Support and cooperation from the local community are important in realising the Sarawak’s development. In Bau district for example, we can see that its development is on par with other developing districts in Sarawak,” he said at the closing of 2018 Pesta Tasik Biru on Sunday.

Also present at the function were Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep and Bau District Officer Anielia Siam.

On Pesta Tasik Biru, he was happy to see the participation of many people irrespective of race and creed who worked together to make it a success.

He hoped next year’s event will be more prestigious to attract more local and foreign tourists. In line with this, he pledged a grant RM30,000 to the organisers.

The three-day event starting Friday included exciting live music shows, Bau Kitchen, zumba, muaythai competition, Miss Tasik Biru, Street Soccer,  Bau Bikers Gathering, Jong Regatta and others.
