Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Transportation, Sarawak

Welcome to the official website of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Transportation, Sarawak, in short, MIDT.

Established on 1st August 1963, MIDT is charged with the responsibilities for policy formulation, planning and development of physical infrastructure and communications facilities in the state.

Subjects that are under the purview of MIDT and its agencies include state public works and buildings, state roads and bridges, road safety, federal public works undertaken in Sarawak, ferry services, wharves and jetties, regulation of riverine and coastal traffic, provision and maintenance of public facilities for riverine and coastal transportation, buoys and lights, waterways, merchant shipping laws for ships under 15 tonnes, management of ports and dockyards and the provision of marine engineering services.

In addition, MIDT is holding a watching brief over road, air and sea transportation, airports and airfields as well as liaising with Federal Ministries and their agencies on matters relating to infrastructure development.

This website is designed and developed to provide surfers and the general public with information regarding MIDT. It also provides link to the websites of agencies that are under the purview of MIDT. It is hoped that the information provided will enable surfers and the general public to better understand the roles and responsibilities besides the services provided by MIDT and its agencies.
